This character is from Hunter S. Thompson’s cult classic, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He is the central figure in the infamous Lizard Lounge scene in chapter 4, when Roaul Duke (Hunter’s alter ego) and his attorney imagine the inhabitants of a bar in Las Vegas have morphed into Lizard People as a result of the many hallucinogens they have been taking.

This particular individual also features in chapter 11, separated from the original artwork. It was printed by Kentucky based printer, Joe Petro III, who has collaborated with Steadman for many years producing prints of some of his most iconic artworks.
